Terms of Use

1. Who we are

Lumberjack is made and operated by ilovemeerkats, an independent studio based in Australia. It is free to use, with no account and no sign-up. You must be at least 16 years old to use Lumberjack. If you are below the age at which you can consent to using online services where you live, you may use it only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf.

2. The service, as it is

Lumberjack runs in your web browser. We may add to, change, or stop offering any part of it, or all of it, at any time. Lumberjack is provided free of charge at this time. We reserve the right to introduce charges for some or all of the service in the future. Any such charges will not take effect without prior notice, and you will not be charged unless you accept the new terms.

3. Your data is yours, and your responsibility

Your tasks, projects, and everything you enter stay in your browser on your own device, not on our servers. You are in control of this data, and you are responsible for keeping it. If you clear your browser, switch devices, or your browser loses the data, we cannot recover it for you. Use the export option to keep your own backup. If you subscribe to the newsletter, that is covered in the Privacy Policy.

4. Intellectual property

Lumberjack and everything that makes it work belong to ilovemeerkats. This includes the Lumberjack name and branding, the visual design and interface, the text and copy throughout the app, the underlying code, and the way the app is put together, including its application logic, its flows, and the stages a commitment moves through. All of it is our intellectual property and is protected by copyright and other laws.

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Lumberjack for your own use under these terms. You may not copy, sell, redistribute, modify, reverse-engineer, or build a competing product from any part of it without our written permission.

Anything you enter into the app, such as your tasks, projects, and notes, remains yours. Because that content stays on your own device, we make no claim to it.

5. No warranty, and limited liability

Lumberjack is provided “as is” and “as available”, with no warranties. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every purpose.

Nothing in these terms excludes any consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, ilovemeerkats is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of Lumberjack, including lost or corrupted data. Where our liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to re-supplying the service.

6. Severability

If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that part is removed and the rest stays in effect.

7. Changes, governing law and contact

We may update these terms from time to time. For a material change, we will update the date above and note it in the newsletter. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. You can reach us through the contact form on our website.
